Hyderabad, October 24: After branding his potential political opponents— TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao and YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy corrupt, it is now time for TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu to get his political arithmetic right.
What is Naidu’s new equation? It’s simple.
33+33+33 = 294 and power (Allotment of 33 per cent of seats each to youth, BCs and women).
The TDP chief is banking heavily on the votes of youth, Backward Classes and women to win the elections.
As part of the winning formula, Naidu will give 33 per cent of seats to BCs, if not 50 per cent as demanded by some BC organisations, in the next elections.
He will also encourage women to join active politics by giving 33 per cent of party tickets to them.
The TDP chief who recently held a meeting with the BCs, assured them that they would be given due share in allotment of the party tickets in the next elections.
Participating in a Telugu Mahila meeting a few days ago, he exhorted women to start gearing up for the next elections.
The Women’s Reservation Bill may be in place by 2014 and women will naturally get 33 per cent ofquota in the Legislative bodies.
Naidu wants to use the opportunity to project himself as a leader committed to the political empowerment of women.
But the main drawback in the TDP poll strategy is that several seniors are still in the race for Assembly tickets.
It is not so easy for the TDP leadership to ignore them.
The TDP chief wants to field many new faces in the next Assembly elections which are crucial for the 28-year-old regional party.
Its very survival is dependent on the poll outcome as it cannot afford another debacle.
A two-day session of Telugu Yuvatha began on Sunday which will focus on rejuvenating the party.

Naidu's Maiden Statewide Padayatra from Nov 2
RYTU PORU YATRA
TDP chief to highlight farmers' problems during tour
Hyderabad: Three years ahead of the general election, leader of the opposition N Chandrababu Naidu has decided to embark on a statewide padayatra in support of farmers' cause from November 2.
It will be the first padayatra by Naidu who has been in politics for 32 years.
Though Naidu took a leaf out of his bete noire the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, his padayatra will not be a continuous one like Reddy's. Naidu will go on a 15 to 20 km padayatra in each district everyday. He will take two or three days of break after every spell of the yatra.
Naidu will cover 330 to 440 km in 22 districts by walk in the next one month or so. ``My padayatra is intended to mobilise farmers against the government," Naidu told reporters here on Thursday.
Though the TDP chief claimed that his yatra was in no way connected to politics, it will help his party regain its lost glory in the state. The padayatra will come at a time when Sakala Janula Samme was called off and YSRC party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is facing a CBI probe into his illegal assets.
Yet, it is a not a rosy picture for TDP. It has been facing desertions from the party ranks in the Andhra and Telangana regions. Naidu's yatra is intended to highlight farmers' plight and also consolidate the party's base to face the 2014 electoral battle.
Naidu will expose alleged government's inefficiency and YSR Congress corruption in the Andhra region. He will also highlight the "shady Polavaram tender" during his "Rytu Poru Yatra".
Naidu will tour Rayalaseema on the first leg of his padayatra to counter the surge of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and Telangana later.
Naidu, who always thinks globally and acts locally, is linking the agrarian crisis in India to the latest Wall Street protests in the US. The US protesters planned to descend on Wall Street recently in expression of anger over a financial system which favours the rich at the expense of ordinary citizens.
"At the Wall Street, US citizens displayed their anger over economic inequalities. The situation is the same in our country. Around 80 per cent of farmers are in debts. Economic inequalities are widening further at the expense of farmers. Farming should be profitable and farmers themselves should decide the price of their produce," he said.

The TDP chief is 62 now. Asked about undertaking a padayatra at this age and his physical fitness, Naidu says: "I have decided to undertake the yatra as I have no other option to solve farmers' problems. When farmers are in dire straits, it is not fair to consider our comforts and health".

Is it a good strategy to go on the yatra three years before elections?
"My padayatra is not political. My aim is to solve farmers' problems. Though crops in 37 lakh acres have dried up, the state and central governments are insensitive," he claims.

Telangana movement will fizzle out: TDP
HYDERABAD: The Opposition Telugu Desam is of the opinion that Sakala Janula Samme and the T-movement will gradually fizzle out.
Observing the developments in the Congress camp, particularly in Delhi, the TDP is of the view the Central government may not take any decision in favour of Telangana.
A senior TDP leader said: “The Congress-led UPA Government is unlikely to take any immediate decision on T.
At the most, the Congress may adopt the same path chosen by former prime minister Indira Gandhi.” After the Telangana agitation in 1969 and Jai Andhra movement in 1972, Indira Gandhi took a tough stance and opposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
AICC president Sonia Gandhi may also adopt the same stance of Indira Gandhi, another TDP leader felt.
The Opposition TDP is also of the opinion that the Centre may not announce any special package for Telangana region considering its backwardness.
“If the Centre announces any package on the lines of Gorkhaland, similar demands will crop up in Rayal aseema and North Coastal Andhra which are also backward,” the TDP said.
Another option before the Congress high command to resolve the T issue is to go for a Second States Reorganisation Committee (SRC) with a time frame after the end of the current consultation process.
However, the Second SRC option may not be a solution as numerous such demands may crop up across the country, a TDP leader said.
According to the TDP camp, the resentment against Sakala Janula Samme is growing among Telangana people, particularly among students, farmers and daily wagers as it had already entered the 28th day.

TDP will not be an obstacle to T: Babu
Telangana TDP leaders demand announcement of
a time schedule for formation of T state
Express News Service
Hyderabad: Without deviating from Telugu Desam’s two-eye policy on the Telangana issue, TDP leaders from both Telangana and Seemandhra are all eyes on the political developments in Delhi.
It was a hectic day for TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday as he held a tele-conference with Telangana leaders. He made it clear that the TDP would not be an obstacle to formation of Telangana state if the Centre wanted to bifurcate the state. Naidu's assertion was in accordance with the TDP politburo resolution adopted in 2008.
However, party insiders said the TDP was of the opinion that the Congress high command might consider imposition of the President’s rule or changing the chief minister of the state to resolve the T issue. The Congress would further delay the T process without taking any concrete decision now, they said.
But the two-eye policy of the TDP was repeated by both the Telangana and Seemandhra leaders on the
contentious issue later in the day.
The Telangana Telugu Desam Forum (TTDF) also held a meeting after discussions with Naidu, and blamed the Congress for the delay in carving out a separate state.
On the other hand, TDP MLA Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao thundered in Vijayawada that the entire coastal Andhra from Tada to Ichchapuram would be paralysed if the Centre decided to bifurcate the state.
TTDF convenor E Dayakar Rao said the situation would turn worse if the Centre delayed the T-process further. “The Congress has been dodging the issue for the past seven and half years. We are not ready to accept any formula other than creation of a separate Telangana state, which includes Hyderabad,” he warned.
“The Congress should not dampen the spirits of T people. The Congress could not hoodwink the people like in the past. It should not play with the lives of T people," TDP senior leader T Devender Goud said.
Goud demanded that the Centre announce a time schedule for T, including
the date on which the Congress-led UPA Government would introduce the T bill in Parliament.
“The Congress should not delay the T process on the pretext of further consultations on the issue,” said another senior TDP leader K Srihari.
In Vijayawada, Uma warned that they would not accept bifurcation of the state. “If the T demand is accepted, TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao may ask for a separate country in future. Will the Centre concede such a demand?” Uma questioned.

TDP blacklists TRS, YSRC channels, papers
HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam has decided to boycott media organisations owned by the YSR Congress party and the TRS.
A decision to this effect was taken at a TDP Media Watch Committee meeting here on Saturday.
Accordingly, TDP leaders will boycott Sakshi TV, T News Channel, Sakshi daily and Namaste Telangana daily.
"TDP leaders will not participate in debates on the TV channels and will not share any information with reporters of these organisations," a TDP leader said.
Sources said, several TDP leaders including K Srihari, A Revanth Reddy, E Dayakar Rao and Somireddy Chandra Mohan Reddy complained to party chief N Chandrababu Naidu that Jagan's and TRS' media was spreading false news against TDP.
They also pointed out that Sakshi daily devoted one page exclusively to spread disinformation against the TDP.
It may be recalled that the TDP chief had constituted a media watch committee to analyse the news being published in various newspapers and aired by TV news channels. The committee meets every Saturday. At Saturday's meeting, TDP leaders complained to Naidu that distorted news against TDP was rampant in the two dailies and two channels.
Agreeing with them, Naidu directed TD leaders not to participate in debates on Sakshi and T News. He also advised them against giving interviews to the two channels.

Telangana Is No-Go Zone for the Big Four
FORLORN PEOPLE?
They are touring Seemandhra and meeting T people in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Telangana is where all the action but the state's political leaders are giving the region a wide berth. As minister K Jana Reddy told Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday, ministers from Seemandhra are careful not to set foot in Telangana and ministers from the troubled region are not venturing anywhere into Seemandhra. Here's a look at the recent travel itineraries of the state's big leaders.
N Kiran Kumar Reddy, chief minister
Ever since the Sakala Janula Samme started on Sept. 13, the chief minister has been to Prakasam, Chittoor, Visakhapatnam and other Seemandhra districts but not Telangana. Indeed, from the safe confines of his camp office in Begumpet, he has met farmers from Mahabubnagar and Adilabad districts and railed at the TJAC and TRS leaders. Though the Congress has fielded a candidate in the Banswada byelection, the chief minister is unlikely to canvass there.
N Chandrababu Naidu, TDP president
He claims Telangana is like one of his two eyes, but it's been more than two months since the TDP boss has been there. On the other hand, he has toured Prakasam, Nellore and Anantapur and will tour Guntur soon. He does have plans to tour Telangana but only when the heat of the Sakala Janula Samme has dissipated. In Hyderabad, Naidu confers with Telangana leaders either at home or at NTR Bhavan. His party is not contesting the Banswada byelection. So he won't have to go.
Botcha Satyanarayana, PCC president
The PCC president is a frequent traveller to Seemandhra but a rare bird in Telangana. He visited Anantapur on Tuesday and several Seemandhra districts in the last one month. He decided to field a candidate, S Srinivas Goud, in the Banswada byelection but he may not canavss for him. The Congress is sure of its defeat and has left the candidate to his fate.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, YSRC chief
The last time Jagan Mohan Reddy was seen in Telangana was when he tried to take his Odarpu show to Mahbubabad last year. But he forgot that the people remember him waving a Samaikyandhra flag in Parliament and had to pull out when his entourage received a hail of stones. Since then, he has diligently skirted Telangana, taking the O show to every district in Seemandhra. He has only one major declared supporter, Konda Surekha, in Telangana but the fact that his other friends won't be seen with him tells its own story.

TDP - YSR Congress booklet war
HYDERABAD: It is a war of booklets between the Telugu Desam and YSR Congress Party. Both the TDP and YSRC brought out booklets on Tuesday accusing each other.
The TDP which had already published books on corruption of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, Gali Janardhan Reddy and YS Jaganmohan Reddy, brought out another booklet Yedi Kaavali? (What do you want?). The booklet explains to the people that the TDP is committed to development. The YSRC is known for 'corruption' and the Congress for 'inefficiency'. Of the three which one do you want? it asks people.
The management of Sakshi owned by Jagan, circulated a booklet Kutrala Loguttu (The secret behind conspiracies). It was distributed to readers of various newspapers through vendors. It is the first booklet published by the Jagan camp to counter the corruption charges levelled by the TDP.
In its booklet, the TDP has highlighted the transparent and efficient governance provided by the party regime right from NT Rama Rao. 'NTR was committed to the welfare of Sakala Juanulu.' The development witnessed by the state during the regime of N Chandrababu Naidu, including setting up of ISB and Hitec City, is also highlighted in it.
It has touched upon how the corrupt rulers grabbed the increased wealth of the state. The looting of wealth in YSR rule, the favours showered on Janardhan Reddy, the CBI searches in Jagan's houses and assets are also covered.
The inefficient rule of the Congress and the 'failures' of the government on various fronts are exposed in it. 'The Congress has created a rift between people of two regions. The Congress-led UPA Government is responsible for the present political uncertainty in the state. People are comparing the transparent rule of TDP with that of inefficient Congress government and corrupt YSR regime.'
Meanwhile Kutrala Loguttu explains why Jagan is being targeted unnecessarily. 'The ruling Congress and Opposition TDP cannot digest the growing popularity of Jagan.
That is why Jagan has become an enemy to two villains.' The booklet which describes the allegations against Jagan's assets as concocted stories, tries to explain how the businesses of Jagan flourished over a period of time.
Jagan's booklet dismisses the theory of quid pro quo case and claims that those who invested in Jagan's companies did not left the businesses to him. In fact, the investors are taking profits from Jagan's companies. The booklet also highlights the corruption during Naidu's rule.
It contains a list of land allotments done during the TDP rule. Accusing the Opposition TDP of resorting to malicious campaign against Jagan, it has exuded confidence that the truth prevails.
However, the two booklets with a lot of information and cartoons, provide ample opportunity to people to come to their own conclusions. Asked about his reaction on Sakshi's booklet, Naidu said: 'They may do such things. But Jagan should give answers to the contents in our booklet.'

MOET TECHNOLOGY TO PRESERVE ONGOLE BULL EMBRYOS
FIRST PUBLISHED IN 2004
---
THE Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) is considering export of the frozen embryos of Ongole cattle following a break-through achieved by its scientists at the livestock research station (LRS) in
Guntur in application of the multiple ovulation and embryo transfer (MOET) technology.
There is a good demand for the embryos of Ongole cattle in the US, Indonesia, Canada and almost all the Latin American countries. In fact, Brazil today is selling Ongole cattle embryos at $300 each. The University
has already received enquiries from Canada for supply of these embryos.
In India, the LRS scientists transferred 10 embryos at the instance of Glaxo's Diary Division at a nominal charge of Rs 1,000 per transfer, according to the ANGRAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr I.V. Subba Rao. He told Express here on Thursday that the LRS scientists have so far collected 129 embryos of which 72 were transferable.
Till date, LRS scientists have transferred embryos using MOET technology in 18 cows. Of
the 18 pregnancies thus established, 7 calves were born while 10 pregnancies were due for calving. The authenticity of these embryo transfers was verified and confirmed using DNA finger printing technique at the
Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology here.
In embryo transfer, embryos will be collected from a donor female and transferred to a recipient female (surrogate mother) which carries it till the birth of the calf. A donor can be repeatedly used for production
of embryos. Using the procedure called ``super ovulation'', the donors are induced to release more eggs in one oestrus cycle that occurs once in 18-24 days. This process is popularly known as MOET.
Dr Rao said Ongole cattle were heavy, hardy, and disease-resistant and has excellent capacity to thrive on scanty dry fodder. The breed had gained much importance in other countries, especially in Brazil, for beef
and milk production. The university was maintaining a herd of more than 500 pure Ongole animals at its LRS in Guntur for breeding and multiplying the cattle at a faster pace.
The Rs 36-lakh programme for conservation of Ongole breed of cattle had started in July 2000 at the LRS under the National Agricultural Technology project funded by the World Bank.
Now, Dr Rao said, ANGRAU was planning to use the MOET technology on buffalos at its Buffalo Research Station at Venkataramanna Gudem in West Godavari district.

TD plans Babli Hatao agitation
Express News Service
Last Updated : 03 Oct 2011 11:59:40 AM IST
HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will launch the Babli Hatao-SRSP Bachao agitation, if the Maharashtra government decides to operate the gates of controversial Babli project.
The TDP announced its decision soon after a large number of local farmers of Nanded tried to operate the gates of Babli against the Apex court’s direction.
According to sources on Sunday, a large number of farmers of Nanded and surrounding areas under the aegis of Akhil Bharat Chava Sanghatana, made a futile attempt to close the gates in order to store Godavari water.
However, local authorities clamped Section 144 and barred the entry of vehicles within 5 km radius of the Babli project.
The Babli issue has flared up again at the time of Banswada byelections.
The TDP opposed erection of gates to Babli project stating that it would badly affect the interests of a huge number of farmers in north T districts.
The TDP demanded that Maharashtra government honour SC’s interim order against operation of the project gates.
“The SC permitted Maharashtra government to erect the gates, but directed it not to operate them. As Maharashtra government did not close the gates, the local farmers tried to shut them. The next hearing on Babli case is in November.
Till then, Maharashtra government should not operate the gates,” TTDF convenor E Dayakar Rao said.
The AP government should counter Maharashtra’s ‘conspiracy’ to operate the gates in violation of SC’s directive, he said.
If Babli gates were shut, Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) will not get water. About 18 lakh acres in T region will go bone dry if Babli project gates were operated, he contended.
It may be recalled that in July 2010, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and other TDP leaders held a bus yatra to the Babli project. They were jailed.
Later, Naidu was sent to Hyderabad in a special flight by Maharashtra government.
A TDP delegation, including leaders like T Devender Goud, were caned in November, 2007. Now, TDP is planning to resume its agitation.
"If necessary we will visit Babli,” Dayakar said, while opposing construction of Babli and 14 illegal projects across the Godavari river by Maharashtra government.
