KCR Advises 'Third Class' Andhra Not to Compete with Telangana on Every Issue

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday called AP a ‘third class’ State and advised it to desist from comparing itself with Telangana but in the same breath, he made it clear that ‘Andhra’ journalists working in the State will never be discriminated against.

Speaking at an interactive session with journalists at the TS Press Academy, whose nomenclature was changed to the Media Academy of TS, Rao expressed his displeasure with the AP government for hyphenating itself with Telangana on every issue. “AP has fallen in a pit by constantly comparing itself with Telangana. Financially, Telangana is in a better position than AP,” he said, adding “if at all Telangana has to be measured, it must be against Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala... definitely not AP.”
Explaining further, he pointed out, “The urban population of TS stands at 40.6% while that of AP has fallen to 22.5. TS GDP is more than the national average. That was why we announced 43% fitment to employees. AP followed suit but the burden on it is over `10,000 crore. I heard it is looking for loans to pay Feb salaries.” On curbs on media at the Secretariat, he said  that would be decided later. However, he said he was pained to see negative stories in a section of the media. “It’s okay if there is 80% truth and the remaining gossip. But, one or two media houses are targeting the government. If media has the right to question, the government too has the same right,” he said, adding it would be irritating to see gossip daily.

“When I read a story on metro rail, my blood boiled. These are against the State’s interest,” he said.

Telangana is rich because of Hyderabad. Hyderabad was the capital of AP and benefitted by the large scale migration from the AP districts and other places. All the industries came to Hyderabad; BHEL, HMT, IDPL, ECIL, NFC, DRDL ............because it was capital of AP.

Now, suddenly after about 60 years of benefitting from the joint efforts, the state of AP was deprived of its capital - Hyderabad. So do not harp of over riches. You will no pain, if you are made to raise revenue and not spending lavishly from the sweat and toil of combined state of AP.

I agree with KCR in saying that AP should not compare itself with Telangana. Because Telangana is a newly formed State and AP is a State of Indian Union for the last 62 Years. But if Hyderabad city comprising of one third of population as Andhras and one third Muslims, one tenth non Telugus ( other States people ) , will not be let ruled by minority Telanganites at any time by the Center. Hyderabad city would be Capital of AP for another 10 years or more. KCR ultimately would fail to see his dream of his rule over Hyderabad because Center would never lose its grip over Hyderabad city. And Center would never allow Telangana districts people ( KCR also does not hail from the City ) to take over Hyderabad.

Mega Dream: Rs 22,000 Crore to Restore 45,300 Minor Irrigation Tanks

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has begun a massive work to restore 45,300 minor irrigation tanks at an estimated cost of ` 22,000 crore in the next five years. Each year around 9,000 tanks would be restored.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao held a meeting with officials of irrigation department here on Thursday and listed out his priorities. The Chief Minister also agreed to provide vehicle loans and petrol allowance to irrigation staff for executing the massive works. To begin with, the government would immediately sanction ` 20 crore for conducting a survey on 45,300 tanks.
Though there are a large number of tanks under panchayat raj department, the Chief Minister has decided them to bring all of them under irrigation department.

Kakatiya link

A large number of irrigation tanks were constructed by Kakatiya kings for providing drinking and irrigation water. Successive Nizam rulers too developed and protected them. The Bachawat tribunal allocated 175 tmc from Godavari and 90 tmc from Krishna to fill up minor irrigation tanks. Around 20 lakh acres of ayacut was under minor irrigation in those times .
The past governments had neglected the minor irrigation sector in Telangana, which is a lifeline of farmers. The farmers too over a period of time neglected desiltation of tanks and depended mostly on borewells.

Desiltation

Officials will start desiltation in village tanks in order to provide irrigation water to farmers. The extent of tanks will be widened with the consent of the locals. Desiltation will be taken up in all tanks within five years.
After desilting the tank, the black soil  will be diverted to the nearest farms to improve the fertility of the lands. Trees and  water hyacinth (gurrapu dekka) in the tanks will be removed and used as a firewood.
The estimated cost of the programme is ` 22,000 crore. Works will not be given on EPC basis. The entire work will be undertaken by the minor irrigation department itself. The State government will release some money, take funds from the Centre and also obtain loan from any one of the agencies - World Bank, JICA or Nabard. On an average the government is going to spend ` 50 lakh on each tank.

CM's Sramadan
All the Ministers, MP, MLAs, MLCs, officials and students will be involved in the project. District Collectors, students and Ministers should work for two days on a token basis. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao too will do 'Sramadanam' in all the districts, in order to create awareness among the people on restoring and preserving the tanks.

KCR to pen a song
An audio CD will be brought out with a song exclusively for the programme. This will create much-needed awareness among the people. The Chief Minister himself came forward to pen a song for the CD in local dialect. Cultural troops will be formed for spreading the message.

“Today is a red letter day in the history of Telangana. I am very happy that separate Telangana is a reality today. The friction and arguments are over now. Let, the Telugus in both the states move forward for development and flourish together,” said Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhara Rao.
Speaking to reporters in Delhi on Thursday after the Rajya Sabha passed the T-bill, an elated Rao thanked AICC president Sonia Gandhi for delivering T but did not take any questions from media persons. “My heartfelt thanks to Soniaji,” he said.
KCR sought to stress the point that there were no winners or losers in  this issue. “Let us all live together happily. Those from Seemandhra who are living in Hyderabad are now part of Telangana. They need not worry about anything,” he said.
Praising Sonia Gandhi for her determination to carve oot Telangana, he said that without her firm resolve, T would not have been a reality today. He requested the reporters not to ask him any questions since he probably had thought they might revolve around merger of his party with the Congress.
“Today is a memorable day and it should be written in golden words in the history of Telangana. Despite hurdles and problems, Sonia Gandhi stood in favour of T. I thank her on behalf of the four crore Telangana people,” Rao said.
He also thanked prime minister Manmohan Singh, home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, BJP president Rajnath Singh and opposition leaders in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitely.
“This is the victory of TRS workers. Whenever I gave a call for padayatra or rally, the workers responded in a big way. MPs, MLAs and MLCs resigned whenever I wanted them to. They threw the resignation letters in support of T without caring for posts. I thank all of them.”
Rao further stated that formation of T-state should not be construed as a victory for some and defeat for others. “Telangana people achieved their dream of self-governance,” he said.
Like a statesman, he said: “People, leaders and employees of both Seemandhra and Telangana argued with each other in the past. There were differences. But we should forget the bad and the good of the past. Let us develop together and prove to the country that Telugus could live peacefully in two separate states.”
He also said that all those Seemandhra people settled in Hyderabad and elsewhere in Telangana region were considered to be part of Telangana. “All Seemandhra people can live peacefully in Hyderabad. We have no bad idea about them,” Rao said.
RECONSTRUCTION: Rao said that the focus of TRS would be on reconstruction of Telangana. “I will see that Hyderabad will get international city status. ITIR project was sanctioned, which can provide jobs to the youth. There will be a shortage of power for Telangana. There is a lot of agenda before us. I will discuss the development and political issues later.”
Rao said he would stay in Delhi for two or three days more to meet Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, President Pranab Mukherjee and other constitutional heads for their cooperation for creation of Telangana.

At a Meet the Press programme organised by Telangana Journalists Forum (TJF) here, Rao said that the plans were nothing but ideas taken from the people when he crisscrossed Telangana as part of the separatist movement in the last 13 years. He said that it was peoples' agenda and not his personal. The dream Telangana in his own words:


TELANGANA A REALITY: Senior Congress leader Digvijay Sing reiterated that T state formation is over. The Constitutional frame work has to be completed. By this words, the people of Telangana are strongly feeling that Telangana is a reality. Telangana, for which TRS was fought, is not for the sake of selfish ends of politicians. There are just 15 per cent upper caste people in Telangana. The remaining 85 per cent majority belongs to BC, SC, ST, Minorities and other weakersections. The Telangana is needed for the happy living of 85 per cent population.

TELANGANA DESTROYED: Telangana has been completely destroyed in the United Andhra Pradesh. Natural resources of Telangana are exploited. The Telangan youths lost their jobs. Due to lack of irrigation and power, the farmers committed suicides. The handloom weavers died of starvation. TRS Dream Telangana is to rebuild the Telangana to ensure that all the people should live with smiles on their faces. Every one should live in a respectful manner.

POWER SECTOR: Immediately after the state is divided officially, the Telangana will be 50 per cent deficit in power. As of now, the total installed capacity of power plants in Telangana is just 4,000 MW. In addition another 450 MW hydel power which could not be dependable. But, the power consumption in Telangana is around 7,000 to 8,000 MW. The 50 per cent deficit will be a problem for Telangana. We have plans to purchase power from Chhattisagarh government for two to three years. In the separate state, the government will construct power plans with an installed capacity of 5,000 MW in the first three years and later another 5,000 MW plants after two years. In all, 10,000 MW power plants will come up in the state within five years. Then Telangana will become power surplus state. Ten power plants with a capacity of 1,000 MW each will be constructed. The Power Finance Corporation will give 90 per cent loan and ten per cent will be funded by state government.

NEW JOBS: The ten power plants will create 15,000 direct employment and many more indirect jobs. Besides, this 40 to 50 new coal block will be opened in Singareni Collieries Company Limited. Both power and coal sector will create around 40,000 new jobs.
 As per GOs 610 and 36 there are 83,000 Seemandhra people working in government sector. As per the latest estimate, around 1.5 lakh jobs are grabbed by Seemandhra. Naturally, this issue will surface after the formation of the state. The option proposal is not acceptable. As all the 1.5 Seemandhra employee will opt Telangana. The distribution will be done as per the domicile. We are not asking anyone to go back. The job distribution was done in three newly formed states and Acts are there.

JOBS TO KIN OF MARTYRS : Several youths sacrificed their lives for the sake of Telangana. We will give one job to the kin of Telangana martyrs. Besides, Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia will be paid to each martyr family.
NATURAL RESOURCES: Telangana is better placed than Andhra as far as natural resources are concerned. The total non-tax revenue being collected by United AP was Rs 2,800 crore. Of which, the Telangana share is Rs 2,000 crore. There are reservers of limestone, iron ore, bauxite, quartz, coal and other natural resources. We will consult expert in the respective fields on how better the state can use those resources. We have plans to build a industrial corridor from Kagajnagar to Manugur.

HOUSE SITES FOR SCRIBES: As the journalists too participated in the Telangana movement, the new state government will recognise their selfless service. We have plans to allot house sites to all journalists not only in Hyderabad but also in all the districts. Plans are there to introduce group insurance scheme to journalists.

ENCOURAGEMENT TO URDU: Urdu language is neglected in the united state. We will encourage Urdu. An autonomous judicial committee will be formed to protect Wakf properties. Minorities will get 12 per cent reservations. The Race Course in Malakpet and Chanchalguda jail will be shifted to other places. The valuable land will be used for construction of educational institutions to Muslims.

HYDERABAD DEVELOPMENT: Satellite townships will be constructed around 120 km radius of Hyderabad. Plans are there to set up pharma city, Hollywood type cine industry. Light Rail Transport System (LRTS) will be introduced. The express trains will enable the people to reach Hyderabad from Nalgonda within 20 minutes. An airport is now on the south of Hyderabad. Another big airport will be constructed on the north of the Hyderabad. With these developments, Hyderabad will get international eminence. We will further encourage cine industry in Hyderabad.

T LANGUAGE: There is a proposal to make colloquial Telangana language as new state's official language. We will consider it and work for the cultural renaissance.

IRRIGATION SECTOR: We will construct Palamur and Godavari Lift Irrigation schemes. This will solve most of the irrigation needs of the Telangana state. We will demand national project status for Pranahita-Chevella. The TRS will file a case before Brijesh Kumar Tribunal not to deliver award on Krishna water sharing. As the new state is formed, the Tribunal should hear Telangana arguments.

BUDGET: As of now, the planned budget for Telangana is 52,000 crore. But, actually 20 per cent of this amount is not being spent on Telangana. If the new state is carved out the entire amount will be spent for Telangana. This will help fast development of the state.

TALKS WITH NAXALS: Telangana government will open dialogue with Maoists. Maoists are not goondas. The talks with Maoists will not be held by the Police. Either Chief Minister or Social Welfare Minister or intellectuals will conduct talk with Maoists. I have already made it clear that the socio-economic agenda of Maoists is the agenda of TRS.

NEW DISTRICTS: New districts will be created in Telangana. Now, there are ten districts. They will be divided and new state will have 24 districts. Health care will our utmost priority. NIMS type hospitals will be constructed in all the 24 proposed districts. Even the people in the remote tribal areas of Adilabad should not suffer for want of medical care.

BHADRACHALAM: The temple town of Bhadrachalam belongs to Telangana. However, there are no proper records. But, whether it will be included in Andhra or Telangana will entirely depend on the aspirations and movements of the local people. The issue of oustees of Polavaram will be discussed with Andhra government.

IT IS MY DREAM: It is my dream Telangana. I will not become Chief Minister of Telangana. There is no scope. If TRS comes to power a Dalit will become CM. State Advisory Council will be formed and I will act as chairman of the Council. I will see that the Dalit Chief Minister implemented my plans. My weakness is Telangana. If the Congress wants merge of TRS, then I cannot decide who will be the CM. But, I will definitely impress upon the government to implement by dream Telangana plans. If the government did not implement my plans, then I will agitate for the same. I will fight for it. Movements are not new to me. The TRS will take a proactive role in reconstruction of the Telangana. But, time will only tell that TRS will take participate directly or indirectly in the reconstruction process. One should remember that the tag line of TRS is that "Neellu, Nidhulu and Niyamakalu" (water, funds and jobs).

LOVE FOR ANDHRA BRETHREN:  I have said long back that Andhra Go Back slogan is a third rated one. We will not see people of any area as our enemy. We have no objection for Hyderabad as common capital for ten years. We have no grouse against Andhra brothers and sisters. We love them. As Andhra and Telangana are neighbours the people should live each other in a respectful manner. The Seemandhra media should not sow vicious seeds among the people. The ongoing Seemandhra agitation is the concern of the State government. I request the Seemandhra people to please cooperate.
I never said Andhra employees to go back. A section of the media misquoted me. I only said that the Seemandhra employees will work for Andhra government here in Hyderabad in the joint capital.
The Seemandhra employees can retire here and buy a flat and live happily in Hyderabad. We love Andhra brethren. They live a happy and peaceful life here. Let the Andhra government plan their own road map for the development of their state.
Around 1.5 lakh Seemandhra employees are in Telangana. Despite GOs they are not repatriated till now. If they work for Andhra government, the same jobs would be given to Telangana youth.

KCR warns against U-turn, stakes head for Hyderabad

With Seemandhra leaders upping the ante on the status of Hyderabad, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhara Rao on Sunday made it clear Telangana people will not accept any proposal to make the city a Union Territory.
“We want Telangana with Hyderabad as its capital,” Rao asserted at a Meet the Press programme organised by the Telangana Journalists’ Forum here. “I will not accept UT status for Hyderabad, even if my head is chopped off. Seemandhra people can live here. But administration and resources will be controlled by a Telangana government,” he thundered.
Pointing out that the Congress working committee had announced that Hyderabad would be a joint capital for both Andhra and Telangana for 10 years, he said, “The decision is acceptable to the TRS. The Andhra government can run its administration here for 10 years. They can build beautiful buildings for their offices. Except this, we will not accept any proposal to make Hyderabad a UT or a second capital of India.” During the almost three-hour interaction, the TRS chief dwelt at length on his plans to build a “Dream Telangana.”
Interestingly, he offered an olive branch to the Maoists, saying the TRS will not treat them as goondas and will implement their socio-economic agenda. “If the TRS comes to power, it will initiate a dialogue with Maoists,” Chandrasekhara Rao announced.
He also claimed that he was committed to make a Dalit as Telangana’s chief minister. “Telangana is my weakness. If the Congress brings the merger proposal, I cannot decide the chief ministerial candidate. If the TRS comes to power, I will not be the chief minister. An Advisory Council will be constituted by the TRS government and I will work as its chairman and offer suggestions to the Dalit chief minister,” Rao said.
In the same breath, he said even if the TRS did not come to power, he would ensure that his plans for the reconstruction of the region were implemented. “If the government does not implement the plans, I will again launch a massive agitation, as I have become an expert in spearheading movements in the last 13 years,” Rao quipped.

Mr.chandrasehekhar rao is talking as though he is the Chief Minister of Telengaana. He is doing Hate speech, threatening the Govt.employees of Andhra Region. He should restrain himsleg by saying removing of seemandra area employees working in government offices at Hyderabad. In india every citizen having constitution rights to live wherever he/she wants. Before bifurcation of Andra its capital and it takes several years to become separate entity and develop its own identity. Despite both reagion people speaking same langague why this much of hatred and anguish among two regions. We are all live in India and both sides intellectuals sittogether along with politicians and those who behind such moves to resolve issues amicably.

Like the other small states in our Nation, Telengana also will survive ie,the politicians will become millionaires with in a short time by looting the nation,except this nothing is going to happen.

KCR and TRS is banking heavily on Hyderabad's assets belonging to Andhra region, their main aim to loot them and get those properties at throw away prices ... the big secretariat (Burgula rama krishna rao building) built for combined state now that large building is not necessary to accommodate small secretariat of Telangana..????? so part of the building should be demolished to avoid maintenance expenses ... and also buildings belonging to combined state should be demolished and reconstructed by Telangana for their suitability .

Telangana movement will fizzle out: TDP

HYDERABAD: The Opposition Telugu Desam is of the opinion that Sakala Janula Samme and the T-movement will gradually fizzle out.
Observing the developments in the Congress camp, particularly in Delhi, the TDP is of the view the Central government may not take any decision in favour of Telangana.
A senior TDP leader said: “The Congress-led UPA Government is unlikely to take any immediate decision on T.
At the most, the Congress may adopt the same path chosen by former prime minister Indira Gandhi.” After the Telangana agitation in 1969 and Jai Andhra movement in 1972, Indira Gandhi took a tough stance and opposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
AICC president Sonia Gandhi may also adopt the same stance of Indira Gandhi, another TDP leader felt.
The Opposition TDP is also of the opinion that the Centre may not announce any special package for Telangana region considering its backwardness.
“If the Centre announces any package on the lines of Gorkhaland, similar demands will crop up in Rayal aseema and North Coastal Andhra which are also backward,” the TDP said.
Another option before the Congress high command to resolve the T issue is to go for a Second States Reorganisation Committee (SRC) with a time frame after the end of the current consultation process.
However, the Second SRC option may not be a solution as numerous such demands may crop up across the country, a TDP leader said.
According to the TDP camp, the resentment against Sakala Janula Samme is growing among Telangana people, particularly among students, farmers and daily wagers as it had already entered the 28th day.

Hyderabad: Without deviating from Telugu Desam’s two-eye policy on the Telangana issue, TDP leaders from both Telangana and Seemandhra are all eyes on the political developments in Delhi.
It was a hectic day for TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday as he held a tele-conference with Telangana leaders. He made it clear that the TDP would not be an obstacle to formation of Telangana state if the Centre wanted to bifurcate the state. Naidu's assertion was in accordance with the TDP politburo resolution adopted in 2008.
However, party insiders said the TDP was of the opinion that the Congress high command might consider imposition of the President’s rule or  changing the chief minister of the state to resolve the T issue. The Congress would further delay the T process without taking any concrete decision now, they said.
But the two-eye policy of the TDP was repeated by both the Telangana and Seemandhra leaders on the
contentious issue later in the day.
The Telangana Telugu Desam Forum (TTDF) also held a meeting after discussions with Naidu, and blamed the Congress for the delay in carving out a separate state.
On the other hand, TDP MLA Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao thundered in Vijayawada that the entire coastal Andhra from Tada to Ichchapuram would be paralysed if the Centre decided to bifurcate the state.
TTDF convenor E Dayakar Rao said the situation would turn worse if the Centre delayed the T-process further. “The Congress has been dodging the issue for the past seven and half years. We are not ready to accept any formula other than creation of a separate Telangana state, which includes Hyderabad,” he warned.
“The Congress should not dampen the spirits of T people. The Congress could not hoodwink the people like in the past. It should not play with the lives of T people," TDP senior leader T Devender Goud said.
Goud demanded that the Centre announce a time schedule for T, including
the date on which the Congress-led UPA Government would introduce the T bill in Parliament.
“The Congress should not delay the T process on the pretext of further  consultations on the issue,” said another senior TDP leader K Srihari.
In Vijayawada, Uma warned that they would not accept bifurcation of the state. “If the T demand is accepted, TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao may ask for a separate country in future. Will the Centre concede such a demand?” Uma questioned.

Hyderabad:   Telangana is where all the action but the state's political leaders are giving the region a wide berth. As minister K Jana Reddy told Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday, ministers from Seemandhra are careful not to set foot in Telangana and ministers from the troubled region are not venturing anywhere into Seemandhra. Here's a look at the recent travel itineraries of the state's big leaders.

Ever since the Sakala Janula Samme started on Sept. 13, the chief minister has been to Prakasam, Chittoor, Visakhapatnam and other Seemandhra districts but not Telangana. Indeed, from the safe confines of his camp office in Begumpet, he has met farmers from Mahabubnagar and Adilabad districts and railed at the TJAC and TRS leaders. Though the Congress has fielded a candidate in the Banswada byelection, the chief minister is unlikely to canvass there.

N Chandrababu Naidu, TDP president
He claims Telangana is like one of his two eyes, but it's been more than two months since the TDP boss has been there. On the other hand, he has toured Prakasam, Nellore and Anantapur and will tour Guntur soon. He does have plans to tour Telangana but only when the heat of the Sakala Janula Samme has dissipated. In Hyderabad, Naidu confers with Telangana leaders either at home or at NTR Bhavan. His party is not contesting the Banswada byelection. So he won't have to go.

The PCC president is a frequent traveller to Seemandhra but a rare bird in Telangana. He visited Anantapur on Tuesday and several Seemandhra districts in the last one month. He decided to field a candidate, S Srinivas Goud, in the Banswada byelection but he may not canavss for him. The Congress is sure of its defeat and has left the candidate to his fate.

The last time Jagan Mohan Reddy was seen in Telangana was when he tried to take his Odarpu show to Mahbubabad last year. But he forgot that the people remember him waving a Samaikyandhra flag in Parliament and had to pull out when his entourage received a hail of stones. Since then, he has diligently skirted Telangana, taking the O show to every district in Seemandhra. He has only one major declared supporter, Konda Surekha, in Telangana but the fact that his other friends won't be seen with him tells its own story.

TDP struggling to keep its flock together in Telangana


Hyderabad: It is a complete role reversal for both the Telugu Desam  and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. In 2009 there was a huge exodus of rank and file from the TRS. There was talk of even several big leaders joining the Congress in the presence of the then chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The TDP hoped then that Rajasekhara Reddy would cause much damage to the TRS and its would emerge a strong force again in Telangana. Much water has flown under the bridge since then. Now,   TRs chief K Chandrasekhara Rao is in an unassailable position, giving sleepless nights to his one-time friend Chandrababu Naidu.

TDP'S predicament
"It does not matter if one or two leaders leave the party. The cadre is with us," this is the oft-repeated assertion by Telugu Desam  president N Chandrababu Naidu whenever a big leader has quit the party.
The stark reality is that those leaving the party in the state are not just "one or two". It had been an exodus ever since the PRP was launched by Chiranjeevi.
The problem is more so in the Telangana region. After the 2009 elections the exodus was of so much proportions that it became a head-ache to Naidu, his bold assertions that those quit could cause little damage to the party notwithstanding.
During the height of the Telangana struggle, seven MLAs from the region quit the party and three of them joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Besides these, several other big leaders and village-level cadre also deserted the main opposition party. According to the grapevine, some more MLAs are veering towards the separaist party.
Ironically, in Telangana, though the TDP is losing its leaders more, it is able to retain its cadre which is stronger than that in the Seemandhra region.
With seven MLAs quitting the party, the strength of TDP MLAs from Telangana has come down from 39 to 32.
"It is major twister in Telangana. We have to lie down till the T-twister settles down. Then, we will raise our heads again and show our strength," a TDP MLA said while admitting that the party was in a helpless situation in the region right now.

Turnaround for TRS
Two years in politics is not a long period. But after the 2009 Assembly elections, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) faced a major crisis. Several leaders and cadre quit the party to join the TDP or  the Congress. Now, the TRS is virtually sitting pretty. Not only has it no fear of any exodus from its ranks, it does not also feel the need to poach TDP leaders. The TDP MLAs are, on their own, quietly descending on Telangana Bhavan and to shed their yellow hue in favour of pink.
In 2009 the TRS chief was struggling hard to strengthen the party after it had failed to win the expected number of seats in the Assembly elections. The TRS won just 10 Assembly seats. YS Rajasekhara Reddy foiled KCR's plans and started poaching TRS MLAs and leaders. Several leaders including district TRS presidents B Somi Reddy, NM Srinivasa Reddy, Jitta Balakrishna Reddy and Neela Padma were lured into the Congress.
After Union home minister Chidambaram's first statement on Telangana, the T-sentiment penetrated deeper into villages and among weaker sections. Now, a large number of TDP leaders, vexed with the two-eye theory of their party chief, are making a beeline for the TRS so that they can visit their homes or the constituencies without fear.

Poaching fear deters TTDP MLAs from quitting

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam MLAs from Telangana are willing to resubmit their resignations but are hesitating to do it alone fearing possible 'poaching' of around 12 of them by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. That, insiders say, is the sole reason why the TDP MLAs are insisting that Congress MLAs too should come forward to resubmit resignations en masse."All the 33 TDP MLAs are ready to resubmit resignations without waiting for the Congress MLAs, but then it will be a problem to us. The TRS is waiting to poach on at least 10 to 12 MLAs. If such a large number of MLAs go into the TRS fold, resubmission of resignations by us will be of no use," a leader of the Telangana Telugu Desam Forum (TTDF) remarked.He said that they had sent emissaries several times to the TRS saying that TDP MLAs too would submit resignations again and contest on TDP symbol, and the TRS and the political JAC should declare that they would not work for the defeat of the TDP. "But, there has been no response from the TRS and TJAC on this," a TTDF leader said. The TTDF also proposed that TRS and TDP MLAs resign afresh and go for byelections. In such a case the TRS and the TDP MLAs should contest as independents or candidates of the TJAC. The TRS and the TJAC rejected this proposal too, TTDF sources said. "That is why we are demanding that legislators of all parties should resubmit resignations en masse and bring pressure on the Centre to grant separate Telagana state," TTDF leaders said.Meanwhile, at a press conference, TTDF convener E Dayakar Rao said that all the 33 TDP MLAs from Telangana region would go to the Assembly on September 28 to submit resignations.The Congress MLAs, after returning from their proposed Delhi visit, should also join the TDP counterparts in resigning. "We will go to the Assembly on September 28. Let mediapersons decide our course on that day," Dayakar Rao said.The TTDF will organise a oneday fast from 10 am to 4 pm at all Assembly constituency headquarter towns in support of the Sakala Janula Samme. "Unlike the TRS, TTDF is sincere in its commitment to the Telangana cause," Dayakar Rao claimed.

HYDERABAD: Will TDP leader N Janardhan Reddy quit the party? - this was the hot topic of discussion among political circles a day before Janardhan’s likely meeting with party president N Chandrbabau Naidu on Thursday to discuss the issue of creation of a separate Telangana state unit in the party. The party has already clarified that there will be no separate unit for T within TDP.

When Janardhan Reddy convened a separate meeting with some party MLAs and politburo members recently, the TDP chief had informed him that they would sit and discuss the issue on Jan 13. It is not clear yet if Naidu will hold the meeting on Jan 13 or postpone it to a date after Sankranti. But the question that is haunting the TDP is what would Janardhan Reddy, a politburo member, do if Naidu refuses to concede his demand for a separate T unit.

Politburo members K Srihari, E Dayakar Rao and several Telangana MLAs too have been demanding a party T unit.“My political future is at stake due to the Telangana movement. People are not trusting the TDP on T issue. All our efforts, including the demand for a separate T unit, are for a bright future,” admitted a TDP MLA from Mahaboobnagar district.

Naidu’s close aides in the party held a series of discussions in the last three days with Nagam but could not convince him on the issue, sources said. The question now is whether Nagam, who did not reveal his future plans, will be satisfied with a separate coordination committee or quit the party.

Grapevine has it that Nagam may float his own outfit. In that case, the moot question is whether the party seniors, who are backing him now, will sail along with him.

Nagam floating his own party and striking an alliance with Jagan’s soon-to-be formed party is also being mooted.

HYDERABAD: TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly agreed to the demand by his Telangana MLAs to form a Telangana Coordination Committee within the party in place of the Telangana TDP Forum.

This is being seen as in sync with his new strategy on T to check the surge of TRS in the region and derive maximum political mileage.

According to sources, at a TDLP meeting here this evening, several TDP MLAs complained that TTDPF convenor N Janardhan Reddy was not coordinating with them to carry out the TTDPF programmes. Naidu is also not happy with Janardhan Reddy that he was focusing more on the T-movement while neglecting the party's interests in the region.

"Fighting for T is not enough, the leaders should also concentrate on the future of the TDP and its survival in the region," Naidu reportedly commented with party leaders. When Nagam held parallel meetings recently and raised a banner of revolt against Naidu, the coordination committee issue came up for discussion.

Naidu later dropped the idea as not much beneficial.

However, he conceded the demand amid growing discontent on Nagam. "Naidu assured the party MLAs that he would constitute a coordination committee. This is to check Nagam," a senior Telangana leader told Express.

HYDERABAD: In a visible sign of a change in the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)’s strategy on Telangana, party president N Chandrababu Naidu sung a new tune on Telangana while the party Seemandhra MLAs too were vocal on moving a T-resolution in the Assembly.

“All the issues in the State will be resolved once the Centre acts on the Srikrishna Committee report. Otherwise, the Congress will be held responsible for the troubles in the State,” Naidu said. On the other hand, the TDP Seemandhra MLAs met in the lobbies of the Assembly and decided to insist that the government introduce a Telangana resolution. “We have not yet decided whether to support a private resolution moved by the TRS or directly demand the government to move one,” P Keshav said after the meeting.

Apparently, Naidu is now executing his new strategy with the help of young MLAs - A Revanth Reddy (Telangana) and P Keshav (Andhra).

The T-issue had rocked the Assembly and the region was in a turmoil due to agitations and frequent bandhs. Even an MLA was attacked in the Assembly. “The Centre should not delay the issue any further. Let them take action on the Srikrishna Committee report,” Naidu demanded. However, as the president of the TDP, he would try to protect the party in both the regions, he said.

He advised the party MLAs from Andhra and Telangana to work in tandem on the Tissue in the Assembly.

At a regular briefing today, Naidu, for the first time, touched the T-issue on his own - a deviation from his earlier practice. Whenever reporters raised the T-issue with Naidu earlier, he used to say, “We have lot of time, we will discuss it later.” But, today Naidu raised the T-issue himself and wanted the Centre to take action.

Earlier, Keshav said his party would press for a T-resolution after the presentation of the Budget. Once the T-resolution was adopted, the Assembly could transact business smoothly and as it was for the Centre to take a decision on T-statehood.

HYDERABAD: The main Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is likely to change its line on the Telangana issue soon as it wants to shed its anti-Telangana tag. During the budget session of the Assembly, the TDP may want the State government to adopt a resolution demanding that the Centre introduce a T-Bill in Parliament. It will insist on a debate on the sensitive T-issue adopting an aggressive stance in the coming days.

While it is not clear whether the change of stance is due to its confidence that the UPA will not carve out a separate state or that bifurcation is inevitable, what appears certain is that the TDP intends to derive mileage by taking an aggressive stand on T. According to party sources, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu has changed the party's strategy completely on the T-issue. From now on, the TDP will aggressively move pawns in accordance with the aspirations of the T-people.

As a first step, the TDP is likely to give notice for adjournment motion demanding immediate lifting of suspension on five Telangana MLAs.

After presentation of budget in the Assembly on Wednesday, the TDP will execute its strategy in the House, sources said.

Naidu felt that when T-issue dominated the state politics, it was not correct to focus on other public issues like fee reimbursement. The TDP gave adjournment motions for two days on fee reimbursement. Now, the TDP too would keep the other public issues aside for the time being and focus on the Tissue.

In an informal chat with reporters, TDP MLA P Keshav said that Seemandhra TDP MLAs would demand for a resolution on T in the State Legislative Assembly. "We will approach the Deputy Speaker in this regard," he added. The official reason stated was that the turmoil in the House was preventing disucssion on other issues.

Telangana TDP Forum (TTDPF) convenor N Janardhan Reddy too wanted the government to adopt a resolution in favour of Telangana demanding that the Centre introduce a T-Bill in the Parliament. Reddy is requesting TDP Seemandhra MLAs to cooperate for a T-resolution.

At a strategy meeting of the TDLP here today, Naidu congratulated party MLAs M Narasimhulu, Hanumanth Shinde and D Anasuya for their bold stand even though the TRS activists obstructed their Tagitations. "Many other leaders too are taking up programmes locally for T. All of them are coming forward boldly," Naidu said.

On the other hand, Naidu accused the TRS of obstructing TDP leaders from taking up Tagitations. "When the TRS can take up programmes with its party flags and symbol, why not the TDP?" Naidu questioned. The change of TDP stand was also witnessed in Delhi, as its two MPs, Ramesh Rathod and G Sudharani, staged a dharna before Gandhi statue in the Parliament demanding introduction of a TBill.

KCR-bashing, Babu-boosting at TDP’s Delhi dharna

It was ‘bash and brag’ sport at Jantar Mantar rather than being a spirited fight for Telangana, when Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders staged a sit-in here.

The TDP leaders staged the dharna demanding introducing a Bill in the ensuing winter session of Parliament favouring separate Telangana.

However, during their fiery and lengthy speeches, several TDP seniors resorted to bashing TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and bragging about the 'commitment’ of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Telangana.

“The TRS chief has been attacking Naidu alleging that it was because of him that the Centre had gone back on its promise on T after December 9. But it was the Congress, after its Core Committee meeting, that had gone back and made another statement on December 23,” Telangana TDP Forum convener N Janardhan Reddy said.

“Tell me how Naidu is responsible for the Centre to backtrack on the T promise?” Janardhan Reddy asked even as the 1,200-odd TDP leaders, who went to Delhi from Hyderabad by a special train, chorused “No, no” indicating that Naidu was not to blame for the Congress’ decision.

Janardhan Reddy alleged that AICC president Sonia Gandhi yielded to the pressure from Andhra and Rayalaseema Congress MPs and took a U-turn on Telangana.

“KCR, we will not allow you to play tricks anymore,” Janardhan Reddy thundered.

Janardhan and Revanth reddy from mahabubnagar are the toadies of Naidu. After formation of telangana state they would go to chittor and work as servants of naidu...It is a shame that these so called MLAs do not know the thing everyone from 5 years to 85 years know in telangana. On dec 9 th night, CM Roshiah was shocked on arrival at Hyderabad airport to know about Chidambarams statement. That night Roshaiah was in constant touch with Babu..and they contacted their mutual friends and partners and members of looters gang Andhra MPs (a few guys with name ending pati..and some other MPS businessman) Naidu played a crucial role in bringing the MLAs of Congress and TDP together in resigning next day...Janradhan and Revanth should resign and contest now. Even if they get their deposits we would not ask for a separate state I challenge them through this paper.

HYDERABAD: The train journey to Delhi by leaders of the Telangana TDP Forum began from the Secunderabad railway station today but the T-bogie is being pulled in different directions by the party’s T-seniors.

TTDP Forum convener Nagam Janardhan Reddy, according to sources, has complained that it was T Devender Goud who had proposed the Delhi tour to party chief N Chandrababu Naidu but did not take active role in organising the tour. Then Reddy took the lead ``to claim’’ all the credit for the Delhi show, his opponents question his financial contribution to the jaunt as the special train consisting of 18 bogies cost the party around ` 30 lakh.

The Janardhan Reddy group, however, refutes the charge saying that no one had come forward to meet the expenses and it was Reddy who mobilised the needed money.

As if one is not enough the party is beset with another controversy. Some leaders are spitting fire at M Narsimhulu for describing Telangana Praja Front leader Gadar as a `Monagadu’ (hero). Moreover, Narasimhulu made the remark in the presence of Naidu. ``If Gadar is the only he-man, what about the seniors in the party? Are they not manly enough?’’ they wonder.

But Narsimhulu has a point, say his supporters. ``Why are the leaders, who had served as ministers for nine years, not shelling out money from their pockets for the T-cause?’’ they say.

Another leader, E Dayakar Rao, has declared recently that they will also meet the Union water resources minister and the Central Water Commission chief and submit a memorandum on the Babli project during their visit to Delhi. ``How can Dayakar Rao club the Babli and Telangana issues?’’ question his detractors in the party. ``It is Dayakar’s own agenda and has nothing to do with the objectives of the forum’s Delhi visit,’’ says a senior leader.

The propaganda material on the train journey printed by the TTDPF too has invited criticism within the party as the pamphlet contains no photo of NT Rama Rao or Naidu or even the party’s symbol. “I only finalised the write-up but have not seen the proof,” says a leader.

But these mutual recriminations within the TDP make its rivals, including the TRS, smile. Naidu is opposed to statehood being given to Telangana and it is only appropriate that his photo is not carried in the publicity material, they say.

A-TDP’s pro-T noises only to bail out Babu?

HYDERABAD, Oct. 9 -- Winds of change are blowing across the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on the separate Telangana demand.

While Telangana TDP leaders are aggressively promoting T, the Andhra leaders have suddenly started speaking in favour of Telangana, as evidenced by the admission of Srikakulam leader K Yerran Naidu.

The T-leaders have become aggressive and even are targeting TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao personally. On the other hand, senior leader K Yerran Naidu, who is also part of a fivemember committee which advised party to take a pro-Telangana stand in 2008, demanded that the Congress should introduce a Bill in Parliament for T state.

After Union home minister P Chidambaram's statement, there was a region-wise split in all the parties.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu too repeatedly said that there was a division not only in the TDP but in all other parties.

Surprisingly, after the Telangana TDP Forum decided to stage a dharna in front of the residence of AICC president Sonia Gandhi, the Andhra TDP leaders too have made it clear that they never opposed the T and wanted the Centre to divide the State as the BJP and other parties were in favour of division.

Analysts felt that the aggressive stand of the Telangana TDP and the favourable statements of Andhra TDP leaders should be understood as nothing but attempts to protect the party in the Telangana region.

With repeated adverse statements by Andhra TDP leaders till now, the party leaders in Telangana have been facing embarrassing moments. As the party is facing a difficult situation in Telangana, the Andhra leaders have decided to tone down their aggressive United Andhra stance.

At the recent politburo meeting, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu directed the party leaders from Andhra and Rayalaseema to visit Telangana and vice-versa. Naidu felt the warlike situation between Andhra and Telangana leaders would ultimately damage the party and wanted to buy peace with each other. This was another reason for the change in the stance by Andhra leaders.

However, critics felt that there was no chance of the Srikrishna Committee giving a clear recommendation for the formation of T and the Congress too would not take any firm decision in favour of T.

Once the Congress stand becomes clear after December 31, the TDP would start blaming the Congress for 'going back' on T. Then the Andhra and Telangana TDP leaders would jointly accuse the Congress of betraying the people of T and for creating ill-will among the people by going back on the promise of delivering Telangana. The Congress is responsible for the political turmoil in the state with its contradictory statements, a TDP leader pointed out.

Meanwhile, TRS leaders are repeatedly targeting TDP chief Naidu for allegedly plotting against Telangana after the Union home minister's statement. They even accused Naidu of funding the united Andhra movement after the Centre initiated the T-process.

Now, the positive statements from Andhra TDP leaders could send the message clear and loud that Naidu is not a hindrance to the formation of T while also serving to shift the blame on to the Congress for not keeping its word on T.

Asked about the change in his stand, Yerran Naidu told Express that there was nothing new in his statement on T. "The TDP took a pro- Telangana decision. But, the leaders in Andhra and Rayalaseema reflected the feelings of their respective regions.

We have never hurt the sentiments of T-people. Even Naidu repeatedly said he was not against T," Yerran Naidu said.

Yerran Naidu's statement has made it clear that the United Andhra movement was a movement of leaders and not that of the people, critics point out.

Babu’s two eyes to see as one

HYDERABAD: Continuing his two-eyed theory on Telangana, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu has come out with a new plan to erase the psychological divide between Andhra and Telangana people at least within his own party.

Realising that there was a psychological divide between the people of the two regions, Naidu has decided to dispatch party leaders from Andhra to Telangana and vice versa. A decision to this effect was taken at the politburo meeting of the party held here today.

As per the plan, TDP Telangana leaders would visit Andhra towns and Andhra leaders would visit Telangana areas. TDP district-wise general body meetings will be held for two days on September 16 and 18. The Andhra and Telangana senior leaders would attend the meetings.

For the last one year, the TDP leaders from Andhra and Telangana were confined to their respective regions and not attending any meeting other than their region. The present decision would help to reforge attachments with each other, a politburo member told Express.

Naidu also felt that there was a ‘lull’ in the party for quite some time due to various reasons. He wanted senior leaders to tour extensively in the districts and launch agitations against people’s issues.

Naidu said lull in the party was because of the volatile situation in the state and focus being given to YS Jagan’s Odarpu Yatra. The focus on pressing people’s problems were undermined due to these factors. Naidu wanted the seniors to identify the local issues and play a responsible role to overcome the present lull. “If we highlight the people’s issues, the party will be activated again,” Naidu observed.

When N Janardhan Reddy complained about P Keshav’s remarks on APPSC examination in the meeting, there was an heated argument between K Srihari and Kalva Srinivas. Kalva Srinivas said that when L Rajagopal, Sailajanath and other Congress leaders too were insisting for the conduct of Group-1 exam, TDP would lag behind if none of Andhra leaders expressed their views. He further said that they never uttered a word against Telangana. Naidu pacified them saying that the topic was not in the agenda.

Meanwhile, briefing the politburo deliberations, party senior leaders Y Ramakrishnudu, Kalva Srinivasulu and K Srihari said that TDP has set September 6 as deadline for the government to reimburse the students’ fee. Otherwise, the party will organise protest rallies on September 9, they said.

The politburo also demanded the Centre to order a CBI probe into the irregularities of the APIIC and suspend BP Acharya who is responsible for the irregularities.

Murali Mohan favours bifurcation

HYDERABAD: “Let us separate and live in harmony rather than live separately in a united state,” opined Movie Artistes’ Association (MAA) president M Murali Mohan.

After the outcome of the by-elections, Murali Mohan felt that separate Telangana demand had become a people’s aspiration. “During Channa Reddy’s movement or when the TRS chief launched it, we thought that the separate state demand was only among leaders. But it is clear now that it has penetrated to the grassroot level,” Murali Mohan told Express.

The victory of TRS candidates was surprising and the winning margins were stunning.

No doubt the people of the region were determined to have a separate state, he said.

In this scenario, it was better to divide the state so that the Telugu’s would live together in harmony. “Let us divide as brothers of one family,” he felt. “Telugus fighting one another or remaining hostile in a united state is not good,” the actor remarked.

“When Andhra separated from Madras, many feared exodus of Telugus would hit development of Madras. But the city continued to develop rapidly and even now 40 percent of its people are Telugus,” Murali Mohan explained.

There would be some initial problems after division, but Hyderabad would continue to develop.

Andhra state too would get a new capital and it would also develop, he said.

The TRS said that even after separation it would roll out a red carpet for investors and businessmen from Andhra, he pointed out.

The continuing uncertainty over the statehood issue was affecting the development of Hyderabad as businesses were incurring losses and investors were keeping away from the city, he said.

Murali Mohan, however, clarified that these were his personal views and not those of the MAA or TDP. Murali Mohan unsuccessfully contested on the TDP ticket from Rajahmundry in 2009 elections.

HYDERABAD: Henceforth Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu’s two-eyed theory on bifurcation of the state, would get a makeover but the core philosophy will remain the same. Now it will be two-sons theory.

Determined to continue to champion the cause of separate Telangana and at the same time support the united AP demand, Chandrababu Naidu reiterated that it would continue to be the policy of the party in future too. “If a father has to choose between his two sons who are fighting with each other, whom would he support. He has to support both,” he said, speaking to reporters this evening.

He, however, said he would analyse the reasons for the defeat of the party in the byelections and decide on issues like Babli that have no bearing on Telangana sentiment to focus on till 2014 elections.

“We will review the election results and continue to fight for people’s issues,’’ Naidu told reporters today.

There was a strong feeling that TDP would not change its stand on T with the announcement of some leaders that the party had not fought the elections on Telangana sentiment. The only issue in the election was that people were sympathetic to all the 12 MLAs who resigned. It was sympathy and not sentiment that worked in the byelections, the TDP think-tank opines.

According to analysts, poor performance of the party would affect the party badly in Andhra region too in future. Naidu’s Andhra eye too would get affected. ``If the party was routed in one region, the people of other region too would not think highly of the party,’’ feared a leader.

However, Naidu would focus on issues and launch series of agitations in Telangana region before 2014 elections. He is likely to do his home work to change political equations in favour of TDP rather than taking a clear stand on Telangana.
