HYDERABAD: Telangana state spotted a niche in the Make in India market in Mumbai. Several investors evinced keen interest to invest in the state.
One among them is Cipla, a top pharmaceutical company, which offered to invest Rs 500 crore in Telangana. Three more firms, Vian Mobiles, Neelkamal plastics and a textile firm in Nodia too expressed interest to expand their business in Telangana.
‘‘We will ask Cipla to invest in the proposed Pharma City. Cipla offered to invest Rs 500 crore,” sources in the industries department told Express on Wednesday.
Recently, Ferring Pharmaceuticals which has a global presence as a manufacturing and R&D centre represented by its chairman  Frederik Paulsen and CMD, India Dr Ashok Alate called on chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao with an investment proposal of $100-250 million.
Meanwhile, Vian Mobiles too is likely to start their manufacturing unit like Celkon and Micromax in the state. The state government will allot land to Vian Mobiles in the Fab City.
“The representatives of Vian will soon come to the state and after inspecting the lands, they will announce the quantum of investments,” sources said.
The location of Neelkamal is to be finalised after they visit the state.  Neelkamal has no other manufacturing unit outside Mumbai. TS unit will be the first plant outside Mumbai, if the plan materialises, sources said.
A Noida-based textile firm will set up their shop in the proposed Textiles Park in Warangal. On the last day of Make In India week event in Mumbai on Thursday, the first hour between 11 am 12 noon has been declared as Telangana Day.
Industries minister Jupally Krishna Rao and industries secretary Arvind Kumar will participate in Telangana Day.
Sources said AP government put up their stall in the Make In India week with Rs 20 crore, but TS government put up a small stall with an investment of Rs 20 lakh.
However, investors evinced more interest in Telangana, sources claimed.

Talasani's 'Sting Operation' to Fatten Telangana Exchequer

HYDERABAD:A ‘sting operation’, planned and executed by minister for Commercial Taxes Talasani Srinivas Yadav, has exposed the deceptive ways of punters at the Hyderabad Race Club to avoid paying tax, there by helping to fatten the state exchequer by a few hundred crores.
Based on the revelations of the sting operation, the State government has decided to bring out an ordinance, making amendments to the Andhra Pradesh (Telangana area) Horse Racing and Betting Tax Regulation Act (HRBT Act). The ordinance is aimed at collecting 100 per cent betting tax from the punters at the Hyderabad Race Course.
In October this year, minister Srinivas Yadav gave some money to 60 officials of his department and instructed them to spend the money at Hyderabad Race Club, Malakpet.
Accordingly, the officials, masquerading as punters, walked into the race course and indulged in betting. Some lucky officials won, but that was not the reason why they were there.
The officials were startled to find punters evading more than 95 per cent of betting tax due to the government.
Thereafter, the commercial taxes officials raided the premises of six bookies at the Hyderabad Race Club and seized Rs 51 lakh. As the Legislative Assembly was not in session, the minister took up the matter with chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and the government decided to bring out an ordinance.
The annual turnover of Hyderabad Race Club is around Rs 4,000 crore .

Reining in the Punters
When a punter puts Rs 1 lakh and earns Rs 10 lakh, he has to pay a betting tax of 14.5 per cent, i.e., Rs 1.45 lakh to the government. But some punters are paying taxes nominally to show it in the IT returns. Some punters are even recording less amount to evade payment of tax.

HYDERABAD:  Will Hyderabadis be finally able to breathe fresh air? Will we be able to get rid of those dirty buses and badly maintained trucks spewing thick black fumes that choke the city roads? Well, the report of the World Health Organisation (WHO) that revealed the high pollution levels in Indian cities has served as an eye-opener for the government. Soon, electric buses, cars and non-polluting auto-rickshaws will crisscross the city roads.
The Telangana State government is expected to place orders for for around 20 electric buses and 10 to 20 e-cars under the FAME India scheme, which will promote environment friendly road transport system in major cities across the country.
Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicles in India (FAME-India) aims to bring down pollution levels in the cities. The Central government has proposed to provide Rs 795 crore to promote electric vehicles in the cities during the first two fiscals from this year.
Transport department principal secretary Sunil Sharma, who recently attended a meeting conducted by the Union government in Delhi, said the state will partner with the Union government to implement the scheme. “The state government will send a detailed proposal to ply electric vehicles in a week’s time,” Sunil Sharma told Express on Monday.
While the operation cost for diesel and petrol vehicles is abourd Rs 10 to Rs 15 per kilometre, electric-powered vehicles can ply at an expense of 20 paise to 80 paise per kilometre. “I have suggested bus stations, cinema halls, parking slots, petrol bunks to provide charging facility  the electric vehicles,” Sunil Sharma said.
Already, there is a five year motor vehicle tax exemption in the state for electric vehicles. The Central government has suggested the States to give VAT exemption too.

Tenders will also be invited for `7,451 crore for Integrated Tummugudem Lift Irrigation Scheme to irrigate 5 lakh acres in Khammam district.
“Everything including tender papers are ready. The government will invite tenders very soon,” official sources in the irrigation department told Express on Friday.
Three barrages that are coming up as part of Kaleshwaram LIS are Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla.
According to sources, the Maharashtra government too gave its nod to invite tenders to Annaram and Sundilla and the agreement for Medigadda will be signed between Maharashtra and Telangana governments this week. “We are also inviting tenders for Medigadda. We are 100 per cent sure that the Maharashtra government will sign agreement for Medigadda barrage.
The state government proposed Medigadda barrage with a height of 103 metres. Even if the Maharashtra objected for 103 metres height, then the State is willing to put crest gates at a height of 101 metres. At 103 metres height, it is estimated that 13,074 hectares of land will submerge under backwaters both in TS and Maharashtra states.
TUMMADI HATTI PLACE TO CHANGE?: Meanwhile, official sources said the government has asked for a fresh and detailed project report for Tummadi Hatti barrage in the wake of the state government reducing the height of the barrage from 152 metres to 148 metres as requested by the Maharashtra government.

Tollywood Tours to Enchant Fans, Fill Telangana Coffers

HYDERABAD: Wanna meet your favourite silver screen stars? Gone are the days when you jostled with fans to catch a glimpse of your favourite actors and actresses in Tollywood. For the Telangana Tourism department is planning to introduce Tollywood-Tourism, offering movie buffs an opportunity to visit studios and shooting locations.
The plan is to take tourists to the studios, recording theatres and locations charging nominal fee. But, the Tourism department will not give an assurance that the tourists can interact with any star or technician. They will arrange buses and take people to shooting locations. If the movie buffs are lucky enough, they can meet their ‘screen gods’ and have a photo session too. You may also get a chance to watch live shoots. If you are lucky enough, you may even get an opportunity to chat with your favourite celebrity. And god willing, you may even get a career chance in Tollywood. Tollywood Tourism will also help diehard film fans, who are desperate to get an opportunity to explore the tinsel world. If they are lucky enough, they can talk to the directors and producers and try their luck in the film industry.

Telangana Tourism secretary B Venkatesham will forward a formal request to the Tollywood to start the “Tollywood Tourism”.
Post bifurcation, Hyderabad is the only film capital for both the states. “People from even AP come to Hyderabad and visit studios and other places,” officials said.
“It is a novel idea to start Tollywood Tourism,” said film producer Dil Raju. Tourism secretary Venkatesham discussed the idea with Dil Raju on Wednesday.
“The department will soon consult other producers like Daggubati Suresh Babu. Later, a formal letter will be sent to the film chamber to launch an innovative tourism package,” official sources revealed.
The Maharashtra Tourism department has already started Bollywood Tourism with three kinds of packages. If Telangana Tourism fixes a tariff of Rs 1,000 per head and has a minimum 500 tourists daily, the department will earn crores through the initiative, claimed the official.
“If our Tollywood Tourism plans work out, then around 25 percent of the revenue will be set aside for the welfare of those artistes or technicians who are in dire conditions. This initiative will also help the industry,” officials in Tourism Department said.
Meanwhile, the State government is also making arrangements like introducing single-window permission to encourage Tollywood to conduct shootings at various tourist spots in Telangana districts.

KCR's 5-pronged Strategy for T-infra Boost in 2019

Published: 25th October 2015 04:08 AM
Last Updated: 25th October 2015 04:08 AM
HYDERABAD:If Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is harping on a media blitzkrieg to popularise his development plans, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is a silent operator. He has his own strategies and his own vision for the sustained development of the newborn state. It seems there is more than what meets the eyes of the media in KCR’s strategies.
According to sources close to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the TRS chief is a master strategist who has drawn up a blueprint of his strategies for the works to be taken up during the next four years. The blueprint has a detailed sketch for the development of five core sectors, which will witness remarkable development during his tenure, said sources.
The five core sectors are irrigation, drinking water projects, welfare schemes, power and employment. The achievement in these core sectors will help TRS to seek mandate for development plant, sources added.
It is said that the defence ministry has cleared the LIDAR survey, taken up for the first time in the country by Telangana government, for irrigation purpose. This will help the state government to fine tune its irrigation policy.
The State government, it is learnt, is now on the job of giving final touches to its much-awaited irrigation policy, on which the government plans to spend Rs 25,000 crore annually during the next four years.
Once, the Irrigation policy is ready, Rao will give a power point presentation to MLAs and MLCs of all the parties to explain his vision.
In a surprise move KCR revealed his development plans through a power point presentation to his confidantes at his camp office on Wednesday, in which revealed his vision for Telangana in 2019.
According to the plan, all ongoing major and medium irrigation projects - 12 major and 13 medium - will be completed during the next two years at an expense of Rs 4,000 crore. Besides, Rao will give an impetus to Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation and Rangareddy-Palamuru Lift Irrigation projects.
Rao’s next priority is to develop Telangana as an investment hub. Already, several Chinese and foreign companies have held talks and signed MoUs with the government. “Though the Union government has announced Make in India project, no State in the country has been successful to attract a big industries so far. Telangana is the only state to attract industrial investment in a big way,” claimed an IAS officer.
On the Welfare front, Telangana is spending a whopping Rs 24,000 crore annually for various welfare schemes. No other state in the country is spending this much amount for the needy. Schemes like Aasara pensions, Re-1-a-kg rice and others have been much lauded, the official pointed out.
The youth, who boycotted classes during the Telangana movement, are now busy preparing for government jobs. With the announcement of a massive recruitment drive by the State government, the youth are happy to grab the opportunity.
The two-bed-room housing programme launched by Rao and the decision to use pre-fabricated technology to build houses have raised the hopes of the common man to realise their dreams of owning a house.
Court Poets?
In addition to the development and welfare programmes, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has also decided to accord utmost priority to literature and culture. According to reliable sources, Rao is all set to appoint court poets (Aasthana Kavulu) for the state government. This practice was discontinued by former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao, who removed Daasarathi Krishnamacharyulu as Aasthana Kavi of AP government.
CHANDI YAGAM
Meanwhile, Rao is all set to perform Chandi Yagam at his farm house in Yerravalli village in Medak district from December 23 to 27. Rao had announced earlier that he would perform the Chandi Yagam, invoking goddess, if Telangana state is carved out.

KCR Advises 'Third Class' Andhra Not to Compete with Telangana on Every Issue

 By Express News Service

Last Updated: 22nd February 2015 08:10 AM

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday called AP a ‘third class’ State and advised it to desist from comparing itself with Telangana but in the same breath, he made it clear that ‘Andhra’ journalists working in the State will never be discriminated against.

Speaking at an interactive session with journalists at the TS Press Academy, whose nomenclature was changed to the Media Academy of TS, Rao expressed his displeasure with the AP government for hyphenating itself with Telangana on every issue. “AP has fallen in a pit by constantly comparing itself with Telangana. Financially, Telangana is in a better position than AP,” he said, adding “if at all Telangana has to be measured, it must be against Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala... definitely not AP.”
Explaining further, he pointed out, “The urban population of TS stands at 40.6% while that of AP has fallen to 22.5. TS GDP is more than the national average. That was why we announced 43% fitment to employees. AP followed suit but the burden on it is over `10,000 crore. I heard it is looking for loans to pay Feb salaries.” On curbs on media at the Secretariat, he said  that would be decided later. However, he said he was pained to see negative stories in a section of the media. “It’s okay if there is 80% truth and the remaining gossip. But, one or two media houses are targeting the government. If media has the right to question, the government too has the same right,” he said, adding it would be irritating to see gossip daily.

“When I read a story on metro rail, my blood boiled. These are against the State’s interest,” he said.

Why is KCR against lower classes of society? Telangana has majority of so called "third class" people. If all those people vote against him in 2019, he will loose deposit in siddipet itself.

There is no concept of common capital in the Constitution. This is just to make people from Andhra region happy. The total control over hyd is with Telangaana government.
I really don't know, why the people from andhra didn't realize even after being betrayed by the politicians from their own land.

KCR is so right in calling AP a third class state. Its people are totally totally third class, business minded, who even make their own wife a prostitute for a few extra bucks. correct.

what development Mr.KCR you talk about in Telengana Other than capital city by forgetting that it was wrestwhile government development, not by you or your party or so called Nizam. where is the development in any other areas of state ? Wait & watch in two years time, once BJP gets full majority in Upper house, politics will play nicely to revise the entire reorganization act and wealth share % will be reversed with AP. Many things will change. You & your jokers are announcing thousands and lakhs of schemes whereas your revenue is falling which neither you or your jokers can complete in thier entire term of neither in their life time nor before next elections. what action you will take on so called councellors, corporators, MLAs, MPs & Government staff for swallowing decades through of funds allocated by various governments and keeping telengana as under developed in any place/areas in any manner. Why you could not initiate an action of digging in the past for various schemes/development works by successive governments on amount allocated, utilized, swallowed, black listed, etc., like that ? What punishment you can take for your self when you have not developed your constituency for ages even after assigning funds during MLA or MP ? With illiteracy high in the entire Telangana state other than capital area, you have played politics for your selfish gains like any other seasoned politiician. Remember that. Don't waste time if you have development idea of state really as your days of funds rich state will close in short span.

KCR wanted to get Telangana separated from Andhra region stating that Telangana was backward when compared to Andhra, and if Andhra is third class, Mr. KCR may clarify under which class Telangana falls.

this third class area now known as AP, gave Telangana its first
CM in the form of KCR, as his ancestors are from Bobbili (of course AP is happy
to lose him), the people of this third class area gave all its might and
support to the people of Telangana in their fight against ruthless rule of
Nizam, the investors of this third class area put their economic might in
Telangana alongwith Gujaratis and Marwaris so that Hyderabad and Telangana got
its prosperity, the prosperity for people, earlier also Hyderabad had
prosperity but in the hands of Nizam and his cronies only, it is the tax
revenue collected from the entire AP which has been put in Hyderabad and
Telangana to make that area prosper living the remaining part third class, T
& D losses of electricity for undivided AP was 19%, after division the same
is 12% for AP and more than 25% for Telangana, who was bearing the losses
(thefts) made by whom. But Mr. KCR and his stooges must remember that whether
it is tax collection, T& D losses of Electricity, physical infrastructure,
utilisation of natural resources, improvement of standard of living, awareness
against female feoticide, better awareness of sanitation and medical attendance
which is seen in case of containing Swine flu, facing natural disasters as is
seen during cyclone Hudhud, collective responsibility people for protection of
environment, AP has been progressing with giant strides as people of AP as
always are hard working and this time a strong feeling of succeeding adversity
has dawned on them as against merry making attitude of Netas of Telangana who
are making fools of innocent but very good natured Telangana people. AP needs
not ten years but half of that to surpass Telangana in much of social and
economic parameters.

These Andhra idiots say that telangana people do not speak telugu, cultureless, inhuman , do not pay taxes, what not every thing and also said that post bifurcation will see down fall of telangana. But these Andhra idiots still hang around Hyderabad including their senseless CM and do not have guts and clues to how to develop their new state.. These andhra idiots accuse telangana but like the ruling of TRS govt and hence continue to live in telangana along with their CM and Ministers. What a shameless race.

But the nation did not forget the betrayal of democracy by congress & paid it befittingly & even other parties including TDP were part of this nefarious deed, a state was destroyed for personal benefits and condemned AP to oblivion.

Telangana is rich because of Hyderabad. Hyderabad was the capital of AP and benefitted by the large scale migration from the AP districts and other places. All the industries came to Hyderabad; BHEL, HMT, IDPL, ECIL, NFC, DRDL ............because it was capital of AP.

Now, suddenly after about 60 years of benefitting from the joint efforts, the state of AP was deprived of its capital - Hyderabad. So do not harp of over riches. You will no pain, if you are made to raise revenue and not spending lavishly from the sweat and toil of combined state of AP.

There is nothing wrong in what KCR said and facts would remain facts whether any one accepts it or not.AP is making itself a bankrupt state by trying to imitate telangana which is in a much better position financially.

I agree with KCR in saying that AP should not compare itself with Telangana. Because Telangana is a newly formed State and AP is a State of Indian Union for the last 62 Years. But if Hyderabad city comprising of one third of population as Andhras and one third Muslims, one tenth non Telugus ( other States people ) , will not be let ruled by minority Telanganites at any time by the Center. Hyderabad city would be Capital of AP for another 10 years or more. KCR ultimately would fail to see his dream of his rule over Hyderabad because Center would never lose its grip over Hyderabad city. And Center would never allow Telangana districts people ( KCR also does not hail from the City ) to take over Hyderabad.

His voice was to develop the districts of T. Yes, there was and there is wealth in Hyderabad, his idea is to spend the money on developing the poor districts of Telangana.

because erst while AP govt did not use to allot proper funds to telangana since decades, when rayalaseema and telangana would suffer drought no funds are spent but when andhra farmers get affected by cyclone state used to allot huge funds, but i gues those funds were eaten in middle by politicians, anyways i think division had made both states leaders in to race to make sppedy development, soon if all people if get proper education, facilities, both states can remove reservations in all sectors, for every election this reservation is being used in old ways, hope for coming lections removing reservations should be the issue.

Ethnically both TS& AP are of the same breed, culture, language etc etc.Just bcz a State has been fragmented, it does not give KCR to call it third class and TS had seen all this development during Naidu's period . By his remark KCR has only exposed his class
